She has been profiled by The New York Times, Times of India, The Times (UK), and featured in most major national and international magazines. Tara supports the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, President Clinton’s initiative to combat childhood obesity, bringing Strala classes to more than 30,000 participating schools. Growing up in a small town in Iowa, Tara comes from a background filled with meditation and dance. A simple and fulfilling childhood.
“You could even say my parents were straight-edge hippies.”
Having a ballet instructor who was ahead of the curve, a mixture of yoga and meditation had been brought into her classic learning from early on.
“I didn't ever think it would become my career though, I always thought I would go study Business or Science.”
In the late 90’s Tara had moved to New York and naturally began to share her gift of yoga, meditation and personal peace. Not even realizing that her simple practices could one day teach and serve.
“It’s truly about you feeling better, its not about being “good” at yoga or meditation.”
Due in just a few short weeks with her first child, this new mommy-to-be shares with us that the biggest lesson her nugget has already taught her (and she's not even born yet) is to slow down…simply put.
“You have to learn the difference between being productive and just being busy. It is possible to do more with less energy.”

"Nothing is good or bad, it just is.”
After pulling my back (trying to move a couch to film my monthly workouts,) which not only effects my career as a fitness professional but also tampers with my everyday happiness, it has taken me the last few days to find my message in this “mess.” I wanted so badly to stay angry for being immobile all weekend but instead, I did a whole lot of praying and took this all as the message to slow the heck down!
“In order to fully grow, to fully evolve and to fully understand our journey, we must welcome it all.”
We must quit being so fearful and just allow things to be. Take the time today to feel how you WANT to feel, say what you WANT to say, and do what you WANT to do. Quit letting O.P.O’s (Other People Opinions) block you. So, how do you get from the beginning to the end, you ask? You go THROUGH…it all. Don’t make fear & pain your home.

“When you want something, all of the universe conspires for you to get it.” -The Alchemist
Have you ever noticed that the thing you are focusing on the most ends up being given to you the most? Whether it is a conscious thought or an unconscious though, good or bad, where you place your focus will always end up in your lap.
So, what does it feel like to be “on your path,” you ask? It feels easy. Plain and simple. Being on the detour or the path you THINK you should be on, but isn't quite the one, will give you the most problems. It’s when you feel like you're giving too much of yourself and not seeing the results in return.
“You’ll feel like it’s costing you your power, like you're losing yourself.”
The most magic happens when you begin to everything through love, with love. It’s not a perfect world, it is most definitely about give and take, but the only time things should be given is when it simultaneously makes YOUR soul happy too.
“It is all about asking yourself... 'How am I going to feel with this next choice that I make?'”
Look down at your feet (yes you, now) see that path? That’s the exact path you should be on.

Fascinated with the American foods and sweets (along with natural puberty and just plain ol’ growing up,) Zlata tells us that her “body type” wasn't always what it is now.

As if that weren't traumatizing enough, she recalls herself having low self-esteem through middle school, her high shool breakup and even college. Not allowing herself to get stuck in the “body shame” rut for long, she came out on the other end, stronger and more confident than ever! Competing in over 28 fitness shows and with continuous self-development work, Zlata is the epitome of SexyFit!

"It’s falling in love with the day to day, one thing at a time. It’s falling in love with the journey.”
Being able to “fail out loud” is just as important, if not more, than being able to celebrate out loud! It’s recognizing that you are human and you will come across human set-backs, along the way, but continuing to push though and not allowing that to deter your goal. Having someone who is on the same page as you or even an entire tribe on the same page as you, (my Body + Soul tribe) is vital! They will be your backbone and your extra push on the days when you'd rather sit in PJ’s and watch Netflix, but know you should be hitting the gym and meal planning!
“Unless you are in supported ground and soil, you will not be able to grow where you are.”
Which brings me to today’s big topic…HABIT. It’s now the second week into 2017 and the buzz/enthusiasm for new goals is starting to die dow, but that doesn’t mean yours should! Despite what you have heard, thanks to the audible book I have been listening to “The Answer,” it takes about 66 days (on average) to change or form a habit. It’s only January 12th, moral of the story…DON’T.STOP.NOW.

A leader in the Emergent Wisdom movement, Alexi Panos is on a mission to make personal development mainstream through her books, youtube channel, workshops, international speaking and working with her non profit, E.P.I.C. in Africa. She’s one of Origin Magazines TOP 100 CREATIVES CHANGING THE WORLD, and is a featured expert in the films THE ABUNDANCE FACTOR and RISEUP. She’s authored the books 50 WAYS TO YAY! and NOW OR NEVER, both by Simon & Schuster.
Growing up with divorced parents, Alexi takes us back with her, to remembering the long 8 hour road trips she took often, in order to see her Mom. Being only eight years old, the hours seemed extra long and drawn out but she specifically remembers to the audible books her Mother would listen to, to stay awake on the drive.
“I just wanted to listen to Madonna and dance in the car but my Mom always had on Mariann Williamson and Tony Robbins. I must admit, I kind-of secretly liked it.”
Jumping forward to her teenage and young adult years, the memories of the audible books and the lessons they taught, came in handy quite often.
“I came from a small town in Pennsylvania, and it reminded me that I can have a life of my choosing.”
A few fun facts that you may not know about Alexi are spilled in her interview as well! Trying out for a newspaper singing audition (which started as a dare) ended up leading her to a record deal with Def Jam and Murder Inc., allowing her to tour from the age of 17-19 with then popular rapper, Ja Rule. Where are my hip-hop lovers at?! Touring the world seems like everyone’s dream, am I right? But it was the last stop of the tour that really hit home for Alexi.
“I was in Cape Town South Africa on the tour bus, and looked to my right to see a shanti town on the side of the road. Looked back at the tour bus and it was as if the two worlds didn't match. As if my entire reality just shifted.”
Returning back to New York, Alexi left the music business and picked up a bartending job, simply to make the months rent. She was no longer willing to “sell her soul for fame,” as she put it. With the little money she did have, Alexi and her business partner soon created E.P.I.C a non-profit organization giving back and making an impact, internationally! Alexi is the perfect example of following the things that ignite your soul, at all costs and whatever it takes! Its important to know that for your own person growth, that you truly understand you will always be a work in progress. There is never a defined finish line, it is all about the journey there. I couldn't think of a better podcast guest, other than Alexi, to give us all that extra push of inspiration to catapult us into 2017! New Year. New beginnings. New ideas. New you.
