Danielle Canty, co-founder of bossbabe, joins me on the show today to discuss what burnout is and how to combat it. Burnout is something that so many people, especially entrepreneurs, suffer from, but we don’t have to accept it and suffer the effects.

We dive into the two main reasons behind burnout, why it’s so important to get out of your routine, and our go-to tools for tapping into the power that you have within you to create change in your life. We’re inviting you to take a look at what you’re committing to, what you’re saying no to, and where you’re making choices that truly recharge your soul. Make sure you tag us on Instagram and let us know your biggest takeaways from this conversation!

IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT:

  • Our recent experiences with burnout and how we’re working on getting out of that funk
  • Recognizing the responsibility that you have to yourself and the people around you to practice self-care
  • The difference between resting and recharging
  • Amazing business results that we’ve noticed from taking time to reconnect with our communities
  • A few questions that you can ask yourself if you think you’re experiencing burnout

We all have fears, but how can you use them to propel you forward instead of hold you back? All you have to do is choose which fear you're going to feed and let that be the fuel that motivates you to achieve your big goals.

Chris and I discuss what fears really drive us, and how we use that to stay focused without letting it overwhelm us. We feel so fortunate to live the life that we do now and show up for our friends and family in ways that we never could’ve dreamed of, and the thought of all that going away is enough to kick us into high gear. What’s the thing that keeps you going when you feel like you can’t anymore? Always remember that and use it to your advantage.

IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT:

  • The power of visualizing the life that you want and being unapologetic about it
  • Recognizing if it’s the excitement of having nice things or the fear of not having them that makes you take action
  • Appreciating the freedom we have in our country to pursue our boldest dreams
  • Tangible ways to reimagine your fears as motivation

Chris and I are joined by Dean Graziosi, a multiple New York Times bestselling author, entrepreneur, and investor. We get into common mindset challenges that Dean sees his clients facing and how he helps them rethink selling as serving. Plus, he dives into what people can expect from his free Time to Thrive Challenge and his top tips for how to get the most out of the course.

  • Historical examples of wealth and businesses being created times of economic recession and depression
  • Different strategies for pivoting within your current industry

Most of us don't need to be adding things to our plate right now. In fact, taking things off your to-do list can actually help you make time for the people and experiences that really matter. When you scroll on social media, it can feel like everyone is doing more than you, but how can you look for ways to create value and fulfillment from doing less? I’ve found that taking a step back has magically expanded time and made me even more productive when I need to be in that mode. I want to challenge you this week to do less and give yourself time to connect with something or someone you love.

IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT:

  • Reflecting on spending quality time with family and friends in Wisconsin
  • Detaching your self-worth from how busy you are
  • How you can actually get more done by doing less
  • Evaluating if your routines are actually making you more stressed

During your downtime, do you catch yourself thinking about what you should be doing instead? Chris and I are working on shifting our language around those thoughts when they creep up and soaking up this time that we have in Wisconsin with our friends and family. It can be so easy to become the thief of your own peace by constantly focusing on what you should be doing to make more money and hit bigger goals. But, it’s so important to give yourself a break and enjoy the fruits of your labor. If you don’t, then why are you even hustling in the first place?

IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT:

  • Recognizing when you’re sabotaging your own joy and peace
  • Looking at enjoyment as a sign that you'll be able to collapse time when you tap back into work mode
  • Why making a better life is usually taking away things, not adding more to your to-do list
  • An eye-opening journaling exercise from Four Thousand Weeks that really helped us get clear on our priorities

There are two main tools that I use to lift myself up and change my mood when I’m feeling overwhelmed. I like to make sure that I have scheduled things to look forward to and that I’m prioritizing time with the community that I really want to invest in long term. Lately for me that looks like getting out onto the water and surfing, and spending time with people who make me feel fulfilled, content, and supported. I share examples of activities that you can do to take your stress levels down and create a sense of community. It’s not always easy, but these are the two things that really help me live a more balanced, present life.

IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT:

  • Finding a sense of peace, purpose, and connection
  • Doing activities that force you to set goals and focus
  • Groups that you can join or create to build your community
  • Giving yourself time to develop friendships

Nothing matters until you make it matter, good or bad. It can be so easy to spiral and focus your energy on things that are frustrating, upsetting, or just generally keeping you down. On the flip side, if you want to prioritize something, you have to be super intentional about that and make sure that you’re giving it the attention that it deserves. I’m trying to become a master of focusing my time and energy where it serves me best, enjoying my downtime, and being present with the people that I love. I’ll always be a work in progress, but the more that I can let things go and hone in on what matters, the more I can live in alignment and reach my goals.

IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT:

  • Tips for staying present when it feels like there’s an endless to-do list
  • What Chris and I like to do when we’re feeling like our energy is being depleted
  • The importance of taking your attention away from things that drain you and moving it to something that fills you up
  • Examples of how to make your relationships matter and strengthen your connections
