For years Chris and I were yes people, and for years we have watched others “yes” themselves to death. Now, we practice not just saying no to things that do not serve our greater vision and purpose but going beyond that and letting it be okay if we disappoint people by saying no. We have consistently learned from others who have beautiful boundaries to protect and who have thrived by doing so. When you say yes to everything, you water down your message. When you constantly say yes, you take yourself away from your primary vision and the message you want out in the world.

IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT:

  • Why you shouldn't say yes to every opportunity and should only say yes to what serves your agenda. We discuss the side effects of “yessing” yourself to death
  • If you don’t get an immediate answer to a request, it doesn't mean to stop asking. We discuss how to not take it personally
  • How and why it is harder for women to turn down opportunities and how women can overcome the fear of saying no
  • How people react to your no is usually telling of how they will behave and show up for you down the line
  • Why protecting boundaries and respecting others is so important

This week, I had the pleasure of interviewing Danielle Robay, a TV host and journalist who is currently the host of E!’s While You Were Streaming. She is the creator of the video podcast PRETTYSMART, and the best-selling card game QUESTION EVERYTHING: 52 Cards For Deep(er) Conversation, noted by Forbes as a “game changer”.

Danielle is a big believer in being a self generator and we talk in-depth about putting yourself out there and going for what you want, instead of waiting for someone to bring it to you. We also discuss how there is no failure in entrepreneurship, it's just a pivot that pushes you into the next thing.

IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT:

  • Feeling uncertainty and financial instability while working towards your dream, and the pressure felt to create a different life
  • Having more value to offer when you go ahead and do something yourself rather than waiting for someone else to offer it to you
  • Tools for asking yourself what is the worst-case scenario that could happen, in times of stress or anxiety, and realizing it's never going to be that bad
  • Tips on the fastest way to make yourself feel better on a bad day by making someone else feel better about themselves

  • The power of TikTok to organically market your business without the use of ads

I was recently listening to an episode of the Ed Mylett Show with Rory Vaden, and they brought up the difference between investing time versus spending time. It’s a simple idea, but it helped me realize that being intentional about what you’re doing and who you’re doing it with isn’t just about streamlining your schedule, but it’s also about moving the needle on your long-term goals and making your life better. I’ve been reflecting on how I’ve been able to apply this to my life and some tangible ways for you to implement it in your life as well.

IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT:

  • Thinking about the ROI of your time
  • Reflecting on ways that you might be giving away your time without getting anything in return
  • How the most successful business leaders invest their time
  • Why Chris and I consider our lake house a true investment in our future success, happiness, and wellbeing

Chris and I have been loving our summer here at our lake house in Wisconsin, but when we envisioned our time here, we didn’t take into account some of the extra responsibilities that go into making this dream a reality. Things don’t always go as planned, but learning to embrace the hard work that goes into seeing your vision through makes you stronger and more appreciative of the end result. We discuss what it feels like to have an ‘expectation hangover’ and tools we use to refocus our energy on bringing a vision together.

IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT:

  • How we prepare ahead of time for a summer slowdown in our work
  • The reality of what goes into making our lake house dreams come true
  • Practicing gratitude for hard work
  • Learning how to work through challenges instead of abandoning your vision when things get tough

We all have fears, but how can you use them to propel you forward instead of hold you back? All you have to do is choose which fear you're going to feed and let that be the fuel that motivates you to achieve your big goals.

Chris and I discuss what fears really drive us, and how we use that to stay focused without letting it overwhelm us. We feel so fortunate to live the life that we do now and show up for our friends and family in ways that we never could’ve dreamed of, and the thought of all that going away is enough to kick us into high gear. What’s the thing that keeps you going when you feel like you can’t anymore? Always remember that and use it to your advantage.

IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT:

  • The power of visualizing the life that you want and being unapologetic about it
  • Recognizing if it’s the excitement of having nice things or the fear of not having them that makes you take action
  • Appreciating the freedom we have in our country to pursue our boldest dreams
  • Tangible ways to reimagine your fears as motivation

Most of us don't need to be adding things to our plate right now. In fact, taking things off your to-do list can actually help you make time for the people and experiences that really matter. When you scroll on social media, it can feel like everyone is doing more than you, but how can you look for ways to create value and fulfillment from doing less? I’ve found that taking a step back has magically expanded time and made me even more productive when I need to be in that mode. I want to challenge you this week to do less and give yourself time to connect with something or someone you love.

IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT:

  • Reflecting on spending quality time with family and friends in Wisconsin
  • Detaching your self-worth from how busy you are
  • How you can actually get more done by doing less
  • Evaluating if your routines are actually making you more stressed

During your downtime, do you catch yourself thinking about what you should be doing instead? Chris and I are working on shifting our language around those thoughts when they creep up and soaking up this time that we have in Wisconsin with our friends and family. It can be so easy to become the thief of your own peace by constantly focusing on what you should be doing to make more money and hit bigger goals. But, it’s so important to give yourself a break and enjoy the fruits of your labor. If you don’t, then why are you even hustling in the first place?

IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT:

  • Recognizing when you’re sabotaging your own joy and peace
  • Looking at enjoyment as a sign that you'll be able to collapse time when you tap back into work mode
  • Why making a better life is usually taking away things, not adding more to your to-do list
  • An eye-opening journaling exercise from Four Thousand Weeks that really helped us get clear on our priorities

There are two main tools that I use to lift myself up and change my mood when I’m feeling overwhelmed. I like to make sure that I have scheduled things to look forward to and that I’m prioritizing time with the community that I really want to invest in long term. Lately for me that looks like getting out onto the water and surfing, and spending time with people who make me feel fulfilled, content, and supported. I share examples of activities that you can do to take your stress levels down and create a sense of community. It’s not always easy, but these are the two things that really help me live a more balanced, present life.

IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT:

  • Finding a sense of peace, purpose, and connection
  • Doing activities that force you to set goals and focus
  • Groups that you can join or create to build your community
  • Giving yourself time to develop friendships

No matter what you're facing, what your uphill battle is, or what you're afraid of, we promise that there are always solutions out there一you just haven't found them yet. Chris and I have been reflecting on all the times that we thought we had hit a dead end, but came up with a bold alternative by changing up our mindset or environment. We can’t guarantee that you’ll like the solution or it’ll be easy, but you’ll unlock power and resilience that you didn’t even know existed  inside of you.

IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT:

  • Choosing to believe that there’s always a way through whatever challenge you’re facing
  • Accepting that you don't have to like the solution, you just have to like that it'll solve your problem
  • Examples of how this is showing up in our lives and businesses right now
  • The reality of what it means to pivot

I’m joined by one of my rockstar Lite Pink investors Kelly Kussman to talk about our exciting collab coming out tomorrow! Kelly is the founder of Cayla Gray, a luxury perfume and candle company, and we worked together to create a scent that captures the feel of drinking an icy glass of Rosé in the sparkling summer sun. When I wear Rosé Summer, I’m immediately transported back to when I was on a yacht on the Amalfi Coast, feeling the breeze in my hair, and smelling the salt in the air.

Kelly and I dive into our collaboration process and talk about how we worked together to create a visceral experience with Rosé Summer. She breaks down the difference between white labeling, private labeling, and starting a product-based business from scratch. She shares her tips for how to build your audience from the ground up and what her vision is for the future of Cayla Gray. To learn more about her company and shop Rosé Summer, check out @caylagrayco and caylagray.com

IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT:

  • The life event that shifted Kelly’s perspective and drove her to pursue her entrepreneurial dreams
  • Kelly’s first step when it came to experimenting and testing fragrances
  • Creative ways to expand your network when you’re entering a new industry
  • Why Kelly decided to go the direct-to-consumer route
  • Trends in buyer habits and priorities
  • Kelly’s simple trick for learning how to speak industry jargon
  • The fragrance notes and inspiration behind Rosé Summer

Nothing matters until you make it matter, good or bad. It can be so easy to spiral and focus your energy on things that are frustrating, upsetting, or just generally keeping you down. On the flip side, if you want to prioritize something, you have to be super intentional about that and make sure that you’re giving it the attention that it deserves. I’m trying to become a master of focusing my time and energy where it serves me best, enjoying my downtime, and being present with the people that I love. I’ll always be a work in progress, but the more that I can let things go and hone in on what matters, the more I can live in alignment and reach my goals.

IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT:

  • Tips for staying present when it feels like there’s an endless to-do list
  • What Chris and I like to do when we’re feeling like our energy is being depleted
  • The importance of taking your attention away from things that drain you and moving it to something that fills you up
  • Examples of how to make your relationships matter and strengthen your connections

If you're procrastinating and putting off your big goal because you want it to be perfect, that's just another version of an excuse. That might sound harsh, but it’s something I wish I would’ve heard when I was sitting in a lot of resistance. I’ve realized that it’s better to do whatever it takes to get the job done, and then learn on the other side. If you have to do more research and drag out your launch, it means you probably shouldn't be teaching it because you haven’t lived it yet. I promise that it’s better to condense your timeline, make yourself do it, and get your idea out there ASAP.

IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT:

  • Reflecting on times when I was struggling with my inner perfectionist and hesitant to release my work
  • How to know when you’re releasing the right content
  • My challenge to everyone when it comes to getting projects done
  • What you’ll learn in our new Be Online course

Lauren and I are celebrating a huge business milestone and reflecting on the crazy process of redesigning my personal website and the Lite Pink website. We discuss what we learned about ourselves when we were up against tight deadlines and share how we stayed focused when it felt like there were a million things going on at once.

We also chat about a question that a listener sent in about how I phased out previous businesses before launching Lite Pink. After what Chris and I went through in the ‘08/’09 recession, I will always preach having multiple streams of income and getting your bank account to a place that feels good before going all-in on your big dream. I share some creative ways that I’ve been able to do that and also give advice about monetizing your online influence.

IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT:

  • The best way to reset your workday and limit distractions
  • How I decided to let go of certain income streams
  • My top recommendation to people who want to fully commit to their big idea
  • How to leverage your online presence to be an affiliate or do ads, specifically for digital products

Chris and I were coaching separate groups recently, and when we came together to talk about how the sessions went, we realized a lot of entrepreneurs are facing four similar challenges. We’ve noticed that many business owners are up against an audience problem, they’re not providing value to their audience, their content is stale, or they’re comparing their chapter one effort to someone else’s chapter nine results. It’s so powerful to hear the truth and bring some self awareness around what’s really holding you back, and we hope that this conversation can shine a light on how you can reach your true potential.

IN THIS EPISODE, WE TALK ABOUT:

  • Growing your audience in accordance with the size of your goals
  • Examples of how we add value to our audience before we ask them for anything in return
  • What we notice about our social media numbers when we put out original, fun content
  • Our perspective on healthy comparison
  • The number one move that helps jumpstart your growth
