We recently held our couples mastermind group and did some incredible things to push people (and ourselves) out of their comfort zones. But while those experiences were incredible, it was the conversation that came out of it that truly changed lives. One of those conversations led to the realization that, when your business is struggling, you have to stop looking for what you need and start looking for who you need.

Our life has been chaotic lately. So much has been changing that we’ve been afraid to talk about what we’ve been doing. We just sold our home – and we don’t even have a place to stay yet. We’re usually strong proponents of speaking things into life, so it was very odd that we wouldn’t want to talk about this before today. And maybe, just maybe, that’s why so many of our plans fell through in the first place. In this episode, we talk about manifesting, superstition, accountability, and more.

Have you ever made an unreasonable request? An ask that you were sure was going to get rejected the moment you put it out there? Sure you have, but there’s a limit to how many times we’re comfortable getting burned. After a while, most of us stop ourselves before the words reach our lips. We think we’ll get ridiculed, shut down, ignored. As a result, opportunities and ideas fall by the wayside.
As you’ll learn in this episode, you can get away with more than you ever thought was possible by being bold and going for the ask, regardless of expectation. Stephanie Burns built her business on what she calls bootscrapping – getting scrappy while bootstrapping, a term and technique that came as a result of making bold unreasonable requests. She teaches us to take that leap. You might be surprised at what can happen.

It’s in the moments where things are hardest and you feel like throwing in the towel that you will gain the clarity you need to move forward. Question Highlights:
Guest Bio:
“Never leave the house without wearing your sparkling earrings – they will serve as reminders of the light within.” Those are words Lia Valencia Key’s mother would always say to her. Lia lost her mother at an early age but those beautiful words never left Lia’s heart.
Raised in very humble beginnings in a super-impoverished neighborhood of Philadelphia, Lia Valencia Key lived in a homeless shelter with her mother, sister, and brother. Even in such dark times her mom told her, "Your predicament does not determine your destiny." She encouraged Lia to never leave the house without wearing her sparkling earrings because they would serve as reminders of the light within.
Lia went on to rise above her challenges by radiating light, obtaining a bachelor's degree in Business, master's degree in Education, a cosmetology instructor's license, becoming a global hair & makeup artist, receiving a United States patent, and then moving onward to create Valencia Key Jewelry: wearable joy that symbolizes that all things are possible. If you can believe it, you can achieve it! Each piece was created to inspire and unlock the bravery and light within.
Lia's Valencia Key Jewelry launched on QVC, one of the largest television shopping networks in the world. With the power of believing, Lia went from homelessness to inspiring through jewelry in over 100 million homes. And big dreams continue to come true. Valencia Key Jewelry was recently featured in Oprah Magazine’s 2020 Favorite Things issue, Jamie Kern Lima (founder of IT Cosmetics) brought Lia to appear on The Mel Robbins Show and speak on the stage with Brendon Burchard, Ed Mylett, Dean Graziosi, Tony Robbins, and Lia spoke to over 216k attendees at Jamie Kern Lima’s Becoming Unstoppable Believe It book launch.
Lia reaches back to where she comes from, donating and educating women in homeless shelters about the Keys to Light, and how to rise up out of rough environments. Lia is a living example that all things are possible by rooting yourself in the power of choosing joy and radiating light.

One thing that’s holding you back is an attachment to permanency. Believing that you’re supposed to find a great job and stay with that company forever, or you meet a partner and stay together forever, or you plant roots and stay in the same city forever. When you’re not attached to permanency, you’re allowed to dabble, to experiment, to try new things and see if they are right for you. And it’s only through that experimentation that you find what works best.
When you’re worried that you’re holding yourself back from making decisions because you feel attached to the permanency of your current situation, even if it’s making you unhappy, it’s time to start asking yourself some questions. First, “What’s the worst that could happen if I make a new decision?” Oftentimes, that worst case scenario is the exact same situation you’re in now, so don’t be afraid of making a new decision when the outcome might be the same as no decision at all – it could be so much better.
Many times we’re afraid of losing the good things about where we’re at now if we make a different decision. Maybe you’re afraid of losing your friends or your favorite restaurant. But what if you got really intentional, took inventory of what you loved, and made a focused effort to do those things (or similar) in a different situation? It’s possible to preserve the good while making even more room for new greatness.
So stop focusing so much on permanency. Life isn’t meant to be that way. If something isn’t serving you in the way that it could, try something new. Be intentional, focus on maintaining what you already have, and keep changing things to get even better.

Some people hate talking about money… but they still wish they had more. Here’s a secret nobody tells you: making more money won’t actually make you feel more abundant. That feeling can exist at any financial level. It’s just a mindset. We’re going to share our top tips for crushing scarcity, and moving into abundance.
Our first tip is this: stop focusing on what you don’t have and take inventory of what you do have. You have four tiers of assets, but many people only look at the first tier: cash on hand. We rely on that number to feel abundant, even though how we feel about that amount may change from day to day. Get off that roller coaster and start focusing on all four tiers:
Abundance doesn’t come from what you have on hand, but your ability to create money out of thin air. Anytime you’re not feeling abundant, just recognize that you have those untapped talents that people would pay you for that you can turn into real money whenever you need.
Our second tip is to hang out with rich people. You want to be in the room with people who are doing the things that you want. This can mean getting creative – for instance, the Nordstrom worker who’s networking with everyone he helps put himself in the position to be surrounded by people doing the things he wants to be doing. This can also mean springing for something premium outside of your comfort zone that’s going to put you around those people – premium memberships, hair salons, hotels, and more. These are the rooms where the opportunities and ideas are.
These are the best ways to create more abundance in your life. You have to stretch your thinking beyond where you already are and look for the limitless possibilities out there.

Making big, disruptive decisions in life can be hard. We’ve been making some massively big decisions in our life over the past few years, and we’ve developed a rhythm to making them and vetting whether they feel right. Whether it’s a decision to move, start a business, sell a home, or any other big life decision, we run them through a three-step process to make sure it’s the right move for us.
The first question we ask ourselves before making a decision is this: will this decision give me extreme energy? Is it so aligned with your goals that, even when things get messy, it is still going to provide you with energy? When you’re making a decision, you tend to focus on the energy you’re feeling in the moment, not the long term energy that’s going to come – or leave – based on that decision.
The second question to ask yourself is: are you OK with the worst possible outcome of that decision? You don’t have to feel good about that happening. You surely don’t want it to happen. But would you be OK if it happened? It’s a hard question to answer, but it is crucial if you want to move forward without regret.
And third: do you have a support system to help you through the decision? This doesn’t mean you have to know the exact people that are going to be there for you, but you have to know that they are out there and that you can find them. If you know that you have the support system in place for this decision, you need to move forward, knowing you can tap into it.
Imagine how that decision would play out, all the way to the end. If you are happy with the outcome then move forward. If you’ve answered these three questions, then there’s nothing stopping you from changing directions if things don’t end up the way you expected, but at least you won’t be paralyzed by the fear of deciding in the first place.
